The Morton Arboretum is seeking a Development Coordinator to join their team to conduct prospect research, create profiles and coordinate the acknowledgement letter process. The successful candidate will have prior experience working in an advancement/development office, comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, able to meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a team. You’ll be part of a team working together to make the Arboretum exceptional.
Position Summary: Serve as the primary researcher responsible for providing fundraising staff with detailed donor profiles to support portfolio and other related activity. Responsible for coordinating the acknowledgement letter process ensuring that donors are acknowledged promptly for their gift.
Essential Functions: 
  • Research new prospects and current donors to grow the donor pipeline by reviewing internal files and databases, online donor information systems, and other internal and external resources.
  • Create and maintain detailed donor and prospect profiles that include biographical, philanthropic, professional, and financial information.
  • Assist with cultivation and stewardship events by creating new and updating existing guest profiles.
  • Partner with Manager of Development Operations to develop and maintain prospect tracking and record keeping processes
  • Coordinate the donor acknowledgement letter process, including accurate and timely generation, distribution, and mailing of all donor thank-you letters working with fundraising colleagues.
  • Coordinate donor recognition lists under the direction of the Manager of Development Operations for SEASONS, Perennial Report, donor panels, and other recognition channels.
  • Regularly update donor information contributing to the overall integrity of the database.
  • Regularly update the development operations manual outlining processes and procedures in collaboration with Development Operations colleagues.
  • Provide support for and attend Arboretum events, as needed.
